🔍 What is an EPD and why does it matter?
An EPD is a type III environmental declaration that objectively communicates the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle. Based on ISO standards (14025, 14040, 14044, 14067), it ensures comparability, transparency, and international credibility.
🌱 GASTALDI leads the way with the world’s first peanuts certified with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
We are proud to announce that our Raw and Blanched peanut products have been awarded an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) under the International EPD® System, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
This makes Gastaldi the first company in the world to achieve an EPD for peanuts — a significant milestone in our journey towards transparency and environmental responsibility.

🌍 Scope: cradle to grave
Our life cycle assessment (LCA) covers every stage of the product journey:
Agricultural peanut production
Industrial processing (blanching)
Transport to final destination in the European Union
End-of-life packaging disposal
📊 Environmental impact categories evaluated (EF 3.1):
Carbon footprint (Global Warming Potential)
Ozone depletion
Acidification
Eutrophication
Photochemical ozone creation
Abiotic resource depletion (minerals and fossil fuels)
Water deprivation potential
🛡️ Independently verified
All data was reviewed and verified by an independent third party and validated by the International EPD® System, ensuring scientific accuracy and credibility.
✅ This achievement is more than a certification — it’s a powerful reflection of our commitment to producing food responsibly and transparently, in harmony with the planet.
📌 Being the first in the world is not the finish line — it’s the beginning of a new chapter in environmental leadership.
